Now that is a great implementation of the buddy system. Not having full use of both your hands might make it slightly more difficult to frolic, and it might slightly hinder each of your abilities to swim, but at least you and your buddy will drown together, and that is what the buddy system is all about. It was never meant to prevent drownings, it was only intended to prevent lone drownings. This way two families can grieve together rather than there only being one. Now that would be a real tragedy.

This type of extreme buddy system also ensures that Alexa’s man does not lose her to a bigger fish. Keeping her close at all times allows him to make his claim to her known to all. There is no risk of someone mistaking him for a sibling, except in a few odd cultures. Those countries are the exception to the rule though, not the rule.
