I do not know who is designing furniture these days, but I would be more than happy to give them a good scolding. It seems like everyone nowadays is intent on reinventing the wheel, even though we have had a perfectly functioning wheel for decades. The couch, in particular is what I am talking about now.
What good is that couch going to be when it comes to lounging? How many people can sit comfortably on it when the owner is entertaining company? These are the kinds of questions that the designer should be thinking of when they draw up their plans. It is not all about what is aesthetically pleasing.
Look at Lily G. She can barely keep herself on that couch it is so unwelcoming. There is hardly any back support. The cushions look like they are made out of potatoes and wrapped in the eye lashes of poor African children.
I have half a mind to contact the graphic designer/carpenter/architect responsible for this abomination and give them a sternly worded letter. And this leads me to my next point. What qualifications are needed to design furniture? With all the talk of regulation these days I think this is a field that is being overlooked. Even the Amish can design furniture and they do not even have middle school educations.
