For American Pie’s 20th Anniversary, People Are Saying The Nudity Is Problematic. Is It?

Teen sex comedies aging poorly isn't necessarily cataclysmically Earth-shattering news, and yet people are in an uproar over the nudity in American Pie, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The gorgeous Shannon Elizabeth even said about her infamous leaked webcam scene:

If this had come out after the #MeToo movement, there would definitely be a problem. I think that it would have gone down differently.

American Pie has aged really badly, particularly in how it treats women, consent and privacy. #Booksmart does a much better job with it, and it's because it has a different understanding of gender.
