I take my hat off to whoever made those vintage bikes. That is some quality engineering if I do say so myself. I consider myself something of an amateur engineer myself. I’m not so good with the math or the science, but I once rigged up a zipline in my back yard that worked like a charm. The only weak point was the rotten piece of wood we used as a handle. I lost a good friend that day, but I still say it wasn’t my fault. He should have known to roll when he hit the ground! He didn’t die, but his mom would no longer let him come over.
Tanya Beyer would have no need to roll when she hit the ground coming off my zipline (not a euphemism.) She has a nice pair of those evolutionary airbags that are guaranteed to provide her with a safe landing. It is no coincidence that they just so happen to be conveniently located near the most vital areas for quick deployment. It is still my semi-professional advice that she stay away from the extreme sports…until she hits forty, then all restraints are removed.
