Yes, you read that headline correctly. The network that brought you such high-brow reality television programming as Flavor of Love and Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of a new unscripted show called Naked Dating. And yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.
As described by The Hollywood Reporter, each episode will feature a man and a woman going on two dates with two different and entirely naked people. At the end, the man and the woman will sit down and analyze their dates, trying to summarize what important life lessons they've learned about courtship and romance. Then they'll decided whether or not they want a second date.
According to Susan Levison, VH1's vice president of original programming, yes, the show is all about a "noisy, provocative hook." However it's also about "something we can all related to—the search for true love."
Still not buying it? Well, here's how the show's creators at Lighthearted Entertainment describe it:
We created this show based on marrying a provocative idea with a back to basics philosophy. With all the dating options in the world, what happens if you take one man and woman and strip them of all their pretenses? VH1 immediately understood our vision and is a fantastic partner on a show that uses a social experiment to provide a fun and entertaining look into how men and women interact when they bare all.
So, got that? Come for the pixelated nudity, but stay for the deep insights into the fundamental nature of the human soul.
